1997 Taiwan television series Legend of Yung Ching is a showcase of dazzling star power and engrossing historical drama. Headlining the production is Hong Kong wuxia drama hero Adam Cheng, who gives a multi-layered portrayal of Emperor Yongzheng (also romanized as Yung Ching) from his youthful days as a prince to his midlife years on the throne of the Manchurian Chinese Empire. Cheng is surrounded by an equally breathtaking cast including Shaw Brothers villain Chan Hung Lit as Emperor Kangxi, action queen Jade Leung, hunky movie star Mark Cheng, Tiffany Liu, Howie Huang, and Mainland actor Huang Haibing.

Part II details Yongzheng's rise to absolute power, and his love-hate relationship with female assassin Lu Si-niang (Jade Leung), whose entire clan was ordered death by him.
